Basic Functions:
- Leadership role ensuring the safety and development of team with an appropriate focus on community & environmental stewardship, and profitability
- Leadership role in managing environmental activities including compliance, permitting and relationships with State and Federal environmental agencies
- Leadership role in developing environmental strategy with a focus on relationships with operations/maintenance/administrative departments and continuous cost reduction
- Analyze data and situations, think strategically, negotiate effectively, and manage multiple projects
- Develop Environmental department team members through training and individual reviews/coaching
- Ability to lead and uphold safety and environmental policies, and to establish procedures and housekeeping standards to make safety the top priority at all times
- Develop, amend and apply for environmental permits/compliance
- Ability to establish a clear vision and expectations, foster growth and development for themselves and others
- Radiation safety, bag house operations
- Manage water and wastewater system permit compliance
- Manage waste disposal and recycling activities
- Manage spill prevention and cleanup activities
- Obtain, analyze and compile data for monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to the state and federal government prior to due dates
- Stay informed on federal and state regulatory changes that may affect operations. Analyze all new environmental compliance requirements to determine how they will affect operations
- Work with managers, team members and on-site contractors to advise them of environmental requirements and to work with them on compliance related issues
- Develop and conduct environmental training for associates and on-site contractors
Qualifications:
- 3 years of Environmental leadership experience
- BS in Environmental Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous steelmaking or heavy manufacturing experience
- Registered environmental credentials and/or PE licenses
- Experience with environmental permitting (air, water, waste)
