Work in this class involves responsibility for continuous safe and efficient operation of construction and maintenance equipment. The position may involve operating equipment of a lower classification, supervising a limited number of semi-skilled or unskilled workers, and performing manual tasks which require the use of hand tools, however these tasks are performed whenever there is no need for equipment operation. Work assignments are received in the form of general work orders, or received in detail as work progresses.
