In October of 1988 the City of Allen Park implemented an Enhanced 911 System. The Radio Alarm Operators were then transferred over to the City's 911 Dispatch Center located in the Police Station. This new system allowed the incoming emergency calls to have a simple three-digit number that was recognized throughout the country. The enhanced feature gives the person who answers the phone the location and the name of the person that the phone is registered to. This system has been extremely beneficial to the City's ability to respond to emergency requests. The Allen Park Fire Department did not hire additional personnel for a six-year period.
