Boone County is located in the Ozark Mountains on the Missouri border in north central Arkansas. It was created April 9, 1869, mostly from a large part of Carroll County and a small strip of Marion County. Serving a county of over 604 square miles (11 square miles of which is water) and a population of nearly 37,000, the Sheriff's Office is responsible for primary law enforcement services of the unincorporated area and the cities of Alpena, Bellefonte, Bergman, Diamond City, Everton, Harrison, Lead Hill, Olvey, Omaha, South Lead Hill, Valley Springs and Zinc. These law enforcement services are provided by personnel in the Patrol Division, Criminal Investigation Division, Support Services Division and Jail Operations Division. Boone County Sheriff's Office recognizes that no law enforcement agency can operate at its maximum potential without the support of the citizens that it serves. To accomplish this goal, the Sheriff's Office actively solicits and encourages the cooperation of all citizens.
