The Fit Technician role is key to developing and producing a top-quality product at a competitive cost for the company. Technical Designers should inspire innovation within construction/fit and work closely with product development to collectively make great apparel. This person must embody a balance of hard and soft skills needed to scale the department for growth: oversee grade standards, monitor vendor quality/consistency, fit cadence to ensure calendar dates are met and facilitate individual development plans within the team. REPORTS TO: Technical Design Manager, RTW DEPARTMENT: RTW POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Designer, RTW, plays an essential role in the Technical Design process for Cult Gaia. The Technical Designer’s primary goal is to produce exceptional garments that meet or exceed Cult Gaia’s standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Create Tech Packs with construction callouts, target measurements and grading. Send Tech Pack Fit Comments and Grading to vendors after each fit round. Communicate with vendors on a daily basis. Problem solves construction and production issues. Elevate the brand by paying close attention to detail, construction and fit. Maintain deliveries by fitting and sending comments in a timely manner. Participates and leads live fitting. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: 10 years experience in Technical Design of RTW for American or European Brands, preferably Contemporary or Designer Brands. Ability to lead fittings and solve fit challenges without assistance. Strong pattern making knowledge.
