The Kankakee Area YMCA has installed three ProMinent Ultraviolet (UV) Systems into its pool water treatment process. UV systems are a powerful tool in the fight against algae, germs, bacteria, and microscopic parasites (i.e. Cryptosporidium and Giardia). When used in conjunction with sand filters it keeps pool water healthy and sparkling! In addition, the treatment of swimming pool water by means of a UV system effectively reduces the level of chloramines, the chemical smells that we associate with indoor swimming pools. Our new UV systems provide the cleanest, safest and most comfortable pools in the area! To learn more about UV systems, checkout the attached video report from Medford, Oregon.

Humanists UK for example manages the Non-Religious Pastoral Support Network, a network of trained and accredited volunteers who operate throughout prisons, hospitals, and universities in the UK. The terms pastoral care and pastoral support are preferred because these sound less religious than terms such as chaplaincy. Surveys have shown that more than two thirds of patients support non-religious pastoral care being available in British institutions. Similar offerings are available from humanist groups around Europe and North America.
