Chemical Technician I determines the physical and chemical properties of compounds and materials using quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis. Performs a variety of chemical tests using instrumental methods and standard test equipment. Being a Chemical Technician I prepares materials for laboratory examination and conducts quality, safety, and compliance assessments. Follows established SOPs. Additionally, Chemical Technician I sets up and maintains lab equipment. Records and tabulates data and documents observations and results. Requires an associate degree in chemistry, science or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Chemical Technician I works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. To be a Chemical Technician I typically requires 1-3 years of related experience, or may need 0 years of experience with additional specialized training and/or certification.
