Import/Export Clerk prepares import/export documents in accordance with established procedures and guidelines. Calculates duties, tariffs, price conversions, weight and volume of merchandise that is imported or exported to foreign countries. Being an Import/Export Clerk verifies that invoices are accurate in accordance with physical shipment and customer's SLI, volume, value of materials/goods, country of origin and other regulatory requirements May calculate value of duties and tariffs due on transported goods. May require an associate degree or its equivalent. Additionally, Import/Export Clerk typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Import/Export Clerk gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. To be an Import/Export Clerk typically requires 1-3 years of related experience.
