Requirements and Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering Supervisor III oversees the designing of engines, tools, and other mechanical equipment and industrial processes. Also responsible for supervising the production, operation, repair and maintenance of equipment. Being a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor III may work with other engineering departments to aid in the development and usage of robotics to improve productivity. A level III supervisor has full authority and may be considered lower middle management. Additionally, Mechanical Engineering Supervisor III may require a bachelor's degree in area of specialty. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Mechanical Engineering Supervisor III supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. To be a Mechanical Engineering Supervisor III typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
