Shop Service Technician I repairs and maintains heavy equipment including engines, hydraulics, and transmissions. Removes, disassembles, cleans, and reassembles components. Being a Shop Service Technician I uses service manuals to understand issues and selects the proper tools and protocols for an assignment. Diagnoses issues and performs failure analyses. Additionally, Shop Service Technician I typically requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Shop Service Technician I works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. May require 0-1 year of general work experience.
