We all know job hunting can be overwhelming. With so many things to handle, hunting for a new gig can feel like a full-time job. We live in a time when we need concrete ideas about the job-hunting process.
Being in the workforce for 20 years now, I always made sure I had a plan to get a job whenever I embark on a new journey. I believe it is a crucial thing to have to bring you the ideal position.
My first step would be to identify the specific job that I want, based on my skills. Then, I'd move on to writing a customized resume. Once you're done with that, you are ready to find employers hiring for the job you want. Oh, you also want to make sure that you're well-prepared for an interview.
These are the crucial steps to getting a job. Just stay motivated and keep your eyes on the end goal.

I recently helped out a friend to seek jobs. She got laid off from her previous company due to the pandemic. I thought I could share my experience with how it went. Everyone has their own steps to getting a job, but here's how I helped her:

5.Keep revising your resume/cover letters. Your first attempt won't be perfect. Over several trials and errors, you'll see the need to edit your resume and cover letters.
6.Prepare for an interview. Prepare thoroughly and read up on the company that calls you for an interview.
At the end of the day, my friend got her next job. She did it within 20 days of hard work and consistent efforts. Seeing how she secured her position, you, too, can do it!
I imagine the job-hunting process like a sales funnel. From the top to the bottom of the funnel, think of it this way: Leads - Sales calls - Follow-up – Conversion - Sales.
Now, apply the same funnel to your job hunts. You will start with sources, research, leads, outreach, and interview. By following these steps to getting a job, I guarantee that you'll get your ideal job in no time!

As for me, networking is the most critical job search steps besides your resume, of course. To excel in the job-hunting process, you need a solid set of networking skills. It requires strategic thinking that helps you connect with others.
A few tips to consider when networking in the process of getting a job:
1. Focus on making an impression upfront and lesser on your resume
2. Use social networking platforms to search for new connections
3. Be patient and make time to build new relationships
I've said it, and I'll repeat it. Networking is undoubtedly worth your time and effort, so do include it in your job hunts.
I have a five-step approach in the process of getting a job:
1. Research about the job you're genuinely interested in
2. Identify the qualifications required by the jobs.
3. Assess the qualifications that you already possess
4. Equip yourself with the necessary skills
5. Polish your skills (resume writing and interviewing tactics)
For the past few years of job hunting, these served as great guidelines for me. It's not going to be easy, but anxiety and inaction won't bring you far.
The steps to getting a job may not be a straightforward process, but it isn't rocket science either. These days most employers seek people that are "experienced," so to speak. But it doesn't necessarily mean you need to have a 3- or 5-year work experience. Experience can be projects you do for free such as by volunteering.
So here are my tips to quicken the process of getting a job:
1. Start a side project on yourself. If you aspire to be a copywriter, start off by taking up freelancing or part-time jobs to build your portfolio.
2. Work on a blog and get on social media. Market yourself to the people who you want to work for. Write about your side projects and experiences you've gained.
3. Network. Try LinkedIn, Twitter, or even Quora. You'd be surprised by the number of responses you'd get when you reach out to the right person.
4. Always update your skills. Even if you've got a job, make it a habit to consistently update the skills under your belt.
5. Hire a recruiter. This should be your last resort because the experience of working things out yourself will always be worthwhile.

Getting into a company through referrals is the easiest way to get into a decent job. But not everyone is lucky to be given such an opportunity in the process of getting a job. For starters, I'd suggest you update your resume and cover letters. It's the first thing your recruiters look at, so make sure it is done professionally.
Then move on to register on job portals. There are extensive websites that you can look into. Increase your chances by applying to as many jobs as you can. But make sure they are those that you're interested in. You don't want to be wasting your time or the recruiters'.
