Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Being an Academic Advising Director assists Dean or Associate Dean in the preparation and implementation of department wide goals, procedures, and controls. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. To be an Academic Advising Director typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     • Master's degree required with three years teaching and mentoring experience in secondary or post-secondary education. 
    • Applicant must have excellent communication and people skills in working with students, faculty, and staff. 
    • Applicant should also have the ability to collaborate with faculty and staff on projects and assignments.
    • Serve as the primary advisor of record to several student cohorts, including, but are not limited to: exploratory/undecided freshmen/sophomore students, General Studies' majors, and preclinical level students enrolled in College of Nursing. 
    • Provide thorough diligence in all aspects of advising and student success. 
    • Serve as a mentor and instructor for University Studies 1000 (The University Experience). 
    • Serve as lead point of contact in unit's retention programming. 
    • Assist and support various campus stakeholders in retention-related initiatives, including Faculty Lead Assistance in My Education (FLAME). 
    • Will work in collaboration with ASC tutoring program and represent unit to serve on university-wide Retention Committee.
