Academic Advising Director directs the academic advising department, its processes, and its advisors. Works closely with academic advisors to ensure that a proactive and high-quality approach is taken with all students advising needs. Analyzes existing goals and programs and recommends improvements. Additionally, Academic Advising Director requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to the associate dean. The Academic Advising Director manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes.     • Under the guidance and direction of the Business, Sales, and Marketing Program Manager, the Business Administrator will assist with the management and administration of the Hocking College Business Degrees (Business Management, Accounting, Real Estate Certificate, Sales Certificate, etc). The Associate Director, Academic Business Initiatives will assist with both independent projects and collaborative efforts with the Associate Dean to create, maintain, and process materials associated with business degrees; lead recruitment and marketing efforts for academic business initiatives; teach business courses, supervise business faculty and assist in academic advising incoming and returning students within the school. The incumbent must exhibit strong organizational skills, a comfort level with being a self-starter and leader with various stakeholder groups.
    • Duties and Responsibilities
    LEADS DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES:
    • Provides effective day-to-day management and administration of the Business program in the School of Arts, Business and Science.
    • Assists in managing Business Consulting Teams.
    • Provides leadership and consulting for entrepreneurship ventures on campus.
    • Assures that university policies are communicated and followed.
    • Manages aspects of grant funding as needed.
    • Serves on committees as assigned.
    • Supervise faculty in the business courses.
    • Teaches.
    PERFORMS STUDENT ACADEMIC SUCCESS
    • Teach business courses.
    • Supervise faculty in business courses.
    • Assists with the recruitment and placement of students.
    • Works with students and faculty to resolve conflicts.
    • Encourages students’ involvement in the advising process; Maintains sufficient advising hours compatible with student schedules; meets with advisees at least twice per semester and as often as needed; advises student having difficulty in class; maintains appropriate advisee files; directs students to appropriate department and College resources; maintains confidentiality.
    • Duties also include managing student files, including processing of applications, documenting, using spreadsheets (such as Excel), and databases (such as Colleague/Self Service and Blackboard). Keeps track of student progress in cross disciplines and updating student records. This will involve working closely with many different offices throughout the College, Student Affairs, Financial Aid, etc.
    PROACTIVELY IDENTIFY AND IMPLEMENT METHODS FOR PUBLICIZING AND PROMOTING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE SCHOOL OF WORKFORCE
    • Assists the college marketing department in developing materials about the program (e.g., publications, web page, and annual report).
    • Represents the Business program to students, prospective students and other interested parties along with the Program Manager.
    • Represents program(s) at recruiting events, on and off campus.
    • Collaborates and provides programming for career/program exploration camps.
    • Participates in program relevant community & networking events.
    • Leads the Black Diamond Music Festival Team.
    PARTICIPATES IN ACADEMIC AFFAIRS AND INSTITUTIONAL ACTIVITIES:
    • Is familiar with the mission and philosophy of Hocking College; follows Hocking College policies and procedures; promotes a positive working relationship across technology, department, and community lines; participates in student enrollment activities (recruiting and registration), contribute to the assessment of student academic achievement;

    • Strong technology skills including usage of Microsoft Office, email, and student information system
    • Knowledge of subject area and experience in sales.
    • Knowledge of College resources available to students.
    • Behaves in accordance with Hocking College and Academic Affairs mission, goals, and values.
