The University of Silicon Valley is hiring an Academic Advisor who is responsible for supporting student learning and skill development. This position will support students in all programs.
The Academic Advisor will work independently and with a team of advisors under general supervision to provide academic advising and related student services for undergraduates in all majors in the University. The person in this position advises students on academic requirements and procedures, provides support for students facing a variety of moderately complex institutional and personalproblems, connects students to appropriate resources on campus to foster student success, and advocates the needs of individual students and groups of students. Working with the faculty and management team, the advisor participates in assessment processes, provides professional advising support for recruiting and orienting new students, and supports University initiatives on enrollment, retention, persistence, and graduation.
Key responsibilities will include:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree with coursework in Education; Human Relations; Psychology; Human Services; or College Student Personnel, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience:
One to two years of experience in Higher Education in Student Affairs, or a master’s degree will supplement the years of related work experience in a higher education environment.
