Academic Advisor advises university/college students in course and major selection, requirements for selected area of concentration, and post-college plans. Assists students in setting academic goals, course planning and career development. Being an Academic Advisor may work with individual students or groups. Requires a bachelor's degree in counseling or related field or its equivalent. Additionally, Academic Advisor typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Academic Advisor gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. What We Are Looking For
The Academic Advisor consults directly with students on developing academic plans, providing support through challenges in college, advising on course selection, overseeing assigned responsibilities related to student retention, and providing guidance on academic progress toward degree completion. The Academic Advisor provides critical support to the Hankamer School of Business student population ensuring students maintain satisfactory academic progress toward degree completion. The Academic Advisor must also be comfortable in doing presentations to small and large groups of parents and students.
A Bachelor's degree, less than one year of relevant work experience, and a Christian faith are required. A Master's degree and 2 years of relevant work experience are preferred.
