ACADEMIC COUNSELOR
Location: 2301 W Ashton Boulevard, Lehi, UT 84043
Status: Full-Time / Exempt
Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00am - 5:00pm; Will be required to work one evening per week.
Pay / Salary: $53,504

RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities of the Academic Counselor include, but are not limited to:
- Providing short-term counseling to students, addressing academic, emotional, and social concerns and making appropriate referrals for long-term support and writing Student Success Plans with specific, measurable goals and providing personalized guidance and support.
- Mediating conflicts between students, students and teachers, and fostering constructive dialogue and promoting resolution. Providing prompt and effective support and intervention for students and faculty in crisis situations, which may occur outside of work hours.
- Conducting classroom lessons and programs focusing on suicide prevention, effective study skills, and other topics as assigned.
- Maintaining regular and accurate reports detailing services provided to students and maintaining student records to meet confidentiality requirements and accreditation standards.
- Serving as an advocate for students by providing them with relevant information, options, and consequences, ensuring their feedback, opinions, and concerns are heard.
- Counseling students and prospective students on enrollment, program requirements, career options, and personal concerns.
- Tracking student performance and attendance on a regular basis and counseling students who are below program standards. Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures for student dismissal, and coordinating with relevant parties to verify the official status and notification of the dismissal.
- Coordinating compliance with Section 504 regulation of the Americans with Disabilities Act. Arranging appropriate services and accommodations for individual students based on documentation, and act as a liaison between ADA Coordinator, faculty, staff, facilities, admissions, administration, etc. as needed. Ensuring compliance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
- Skills in media and technology, including but not limited to office software platforms and student data systems as applied to records management, report preparation, and related projects.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
- Master's degree program in counseling, education, behavioral science, or another related field.
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Experience in writing assessments, reports, and maintaining information in a database to monitor student progress.
