    We are seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as the Student Support Coordinator for the AgTEC pathway. In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for students, providing comprehensive guidance and support throughout their academic journey. Your responsibilities will include offering information and resources regarding academic programs, course requirements, and potential career pathways within the AgTEC fields, as well as assisting students in accessing support services such as tutoring, academic workshops, and counseling as needed. You will also play a crucial role in developing and implementing outreach strategies to recruit and retain students interested in the AgTEC pathway, engaging in activities such as high school visits, community events, and partnerships with local organizations.

    As the Student Services Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to participate in outreach events such as career fairs, industry conferences, and campus tours, showcasing the benefits of pursuing a career in the agricultural, technological, engineering, and computing fields. Additionally, you will coordinate and organize program activities and events, collaborate with marketing and communications teams to raise awareness of AgTEC programs and opportunities, and assist in developing new initiatives to increase student engagement and success within the pathway. Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred for this position, ensuring effective communication with our diverse student population.     General Description:
    Under general direction to assist with the formulation of special programs, procedures and services provided to students; to provide the necessary monitoring and supervised opportunities for students; and to do related work as required. Student Support Coordinators may be assigned and provide support in a variety of special programs, including EOPS, CARE, Veteran’s Center and DSP&S.

    Examples of Duties

    Representative Duties:

    • Organizes and coordinates support services for students on and off campus; assist in developing and coordinating services, programs, and other support strategies.
    • Meets with students to determine their needs and assists them in finding ways to meet these needs; interprets diagnostic, interest, and performance tests and makes recommendation of choices available to the students.
    • Assist with outreach and recruitment of eligible students’ recruitment activities including preparation of informational and marketing materials.
    • Coordinate, organize and participate in program activities and events, including but not limited to community relations and recruitment, End-of-Year Recognition Celebration, workshops, and program orientation.
    • Using data driven research to plan and implement new services as directed.
    • Maintain student records, file documentation in accordance with federal, state, and district policies.
    • Determine student initial and ongoing eligibility for program or services; track individual student and cohort progress and adherence to program guidelines; ensure accuracy of and correct permanent student records and associated coding; verify documentation from third-party providers.
    • Coordinate and schedule counseling appointments.
    • Plan, coordinate, facilitate, and conduct orientation and workshops for students.
    • Provide regular reports to management and federal/state agencies as requested; participate on program reviews; assist in assuring program compliance with federal or state program guidelines.
    • Participate in program budgeting; prepare for audits; provide records, reports, backup information for auditors; Under direction, close out program accounts at the end of the fiscal year in collaboration with the Fiscal Office.
    • Coordinates phases of the grants process, including maintaining compliance. Serves as liaison person between students, the college district and with other community organizations.
    • Oversee and assign the work of student assistants.
    • Other related duties as assigned.

    Ability to:

    • Relate and understand the needs of individuals from low income backgrounds and assist these individuals in the most appropriate utilization of Merced College services
    • Adhere to district policies, procedures, and rules regarding budgeting, purchasing and travel/training and expense reporting, and grants administration methods and practices
    • Organize, train and direct student workers
    • Motivate students in career decisions
    • Promote and incorporate culturally affirming DEIA and anti-racist principles to nurture and create a respectful, inclusive, and equitable learning and work environment. In conducting their duties, staff members shall respect and acknowledge the diversity of students and colleagues

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree
      OR
    • Associate's degree AND three (3) years of applicable experience
      OR
    • The equivalent education and experience
    • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
