Product Data (Configuration) Manager
At Executive Advertising, Hendersonville, TN
We are looking for an ecommerce product data manager for full time work and will be in charge of a small team of people to configure our product data and product images. At ExecutiveAdvertising.com, we sell customized products, (as in we sell products that can be decorated with artwork). The products that we sell online need advanced configuration beyond normal products that are not customized. Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, able to create and manage tasks for others, and have good communication skills with typing and working with others.
We work with over 30 other companies that supply us with these products and the information needed to configure each product. You will be in charge of a team of two other team members: 1) Product Data Configuration, mainly through excel and our website and 2) Product Image updating that is done with a web based tool that we have created. You would be responsible for assigning them new project tasks (keeping our suppliers up to date with new product launches), checking their work before it’s imported, and troubleshooting products that our customer service team may need updated quickly. We have a custom Project Task system and a Product Ticket system to keep your tasks and issues organized.
About the Product Data Assignments that you’ll be Managing:
The majority of the assignments will be given out in Excel, however we have more and more tasks that are being completed inside of our own website with custom built configuration tools. This is the type of work that we are looking for:
Naming the Decoration Locations per product: Example if we can decorate the front and back of a bag, you would need to identify each location name. You would look at the picture of the product (and description) and try to make sure that the location names make sense and are specific enough. We will provide you with plenty of examples and training for this.
Configure the Location’s Imprint Area: Each product location will have an artwork decoration imprint area, you would will be giving the width and height of the imprint area and need to add that into our data sheets in the right format such as: Front: 4”W x 5”H, Back: 4”H x 5”H. (as a simple example).
Decoration Methods Configuration: Each location can be decorated, so in addition to configuring the imprint area, you will be giving the decoration methods that are available and will need to document that formation correctly. For example say the bag available can be Screen Printed on the front and back of the bag, while you can Embroider on the Front of the bag - well you would adjust our data to the right format in excel for that to happen. You do not need to know what these decoration methods are, we will teach you that.
Categorizing Products: This is something that is still a manual process for us, but simply consists of searching through our “categories” and choosing what category best describes the product and listing that in an excel file. (copy and paste). You would be responsible for checking this data from your team.
Workflow / Assignment Management
We have built our own project management system (similar to Trello), that is used for organizing our projects and tasks. You would be assigned work inside of our system here. Some projects and tasks are easier, some are harder. The same with our supplier’s product configurations - some products are very easy to configure and others you may need help or guidance on. These Tasks will be assigned in chunks to you, and you will be able to ask questions in the comments to your team lead that is managing the project or task. Instructions will be given inside of our documentation by the use of instructional videos, screen shots, and text documentation. Each Supplier has thousands of products, and the data from each is very similar but can vary per supplier. We typically assign each product per supplier because we group similar work together as it’s faster to do all of one supplier at one time.
We are good at managing and have mastered how to provide training videos and instructions without wasting time or unnecessary back and forth with training classes for example. You will be personally trained and always be able to ask questions. We want you to become more knowledgeable and grow in our industry so that you can become more valuable.
