Accountant:

This position performs highly responsible technical and administrative work in the preparation of the Authority’s financial statements, payroll and tax reports, assets and bank account reconciliation and liability accounts. The work involves overseeing the Authority’s general ledger and maintaining fiscal records. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Accounting Supervisor. This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business or other closely related field and two (2) years of general accounting experience performing financial analysis and reconciliations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

• Compiles employment verifications and pension earnings reports.
• Assists with internal audits, worksheets and reconciliation of accounts.
• Prepares monthly entries necessary for the financial statement.
• Completes and develops analytical worksheets and other tasks as requested by supervision.
• Records billing information to the general ledger.
• Develops computer spreadsheets and enters data.
• Prepares related tax reports on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
• Enters wages paid for disability insurance, records raises, deductions, new hires and terminations into payroll software.
• Assists with annual budget process.
• Reconciles general ledger accounts.
• Oversees the activities of Authority’s bank accounts.
• Enters, maintains and reconciles fixed asset accounts.
• Supervises assigned projects while in progress, and provides instruction and training for other employees.
• Performs other related duties as required/assigned.
