Staff Accountant

Job Summary:

The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track the organizations assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities. The Staff Accountant will also oversee and supervise the organization's payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed timely and accurately.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization
• Helps prepare monthly financials statements
• Maintains General Ledger
• Review daily cash transactions
• Reviews credit transactions and expenses
• Assists in all outside audit activities
• Manage company use of vehicles
• Review weekly payroll
• Review all benefits enrollments and changes and ensure timeliness of submissions
• Reviews tax forms with federal, state and local government agencies
• Assists in bank reconciliations
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, reconciles account and closes the monthly books
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• A positive attitude and willingness to become part of a team
• Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
• Understanding of payroll and employment laws.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and previous HRIS experience
• 3-5 years of education or experience in a related role preferred

Education/Experience:

• Bachelors degree in Accounting, or related field, preferred
• At least 3 years of related experience required
• Experience in payroll processing preferred

Physical:

• Ability to be present, in the office, regularly, during business hours.
