Accountant maintains financial records and ensures that financial transactions are properly recorded. Ensures the accuracy of entries to ledger accounts and reconciles subsidiary ledger accounts to the general ledger. Being an Accountant compiles financial data to aid more senior accountants in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements and other financial reports. Assists in analyzing current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations incurred to predict future revenues and expenses. Additionally, Accountant typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Accountant work is closely managed. Provides accounting support for sponsored programs, donations, cash flow analysis and other key accounting processes. Prepares, enters/posts journal entries and runs post processes. Performs complex, detailed reconciliations of operating and payroll bank accounts to the general ledger. Performs other general ledger reconciliations (such as donations) as needed in support of monthly, quarterly and annual closings. Calculates and initiates corresponding journal entries as needed. Maintains Excel spreadsheets for audit support / inquiries. Runs posting processes such as IGLP and PGLT and resolves posting errors to ensure accurate and timely posting of detail entries. Provides the Assistant Controller and Project Managers with processing and accounting support for sponsored programs, including such grant contract administrative functions as reviewing, processing and reporting expenditures during the award period and for close outs. Responsible for internal and external uploads and downloads for such data as payroll, positive pay and payment plans. Verifies semi-monthly payments to Jesuit Community. Other duties as assigned.
