Accounting Manager manages multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and tax accounting. Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards. Being an Accounting Manager oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting. Evaluates accounting processes and systems and implements optimizations. Additionally, Accounting Manager develops and directs accounting professionals and support staff. Requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance. May require Certified Public Accountant (CPA) credentials. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit/department. The Accounting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     The Manager is responsible for the supervision and control of the general accounting functions, including the general ledger, statistical accumulation, financial statements and financial report preparation for the company.  They prepare and present analytics to senior management and act as the primary contact for internal and external customers.  This position is a resource for the accounting team and the company to build a better understanding of financial reporting and generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).  The Accounting Manager has oversight of staff’s preparation and analysis of the operational and consolidated financial statements and various reports published on a regular and special request basis, managing the month-end close, assisting department manager’s with their budget preparation and reviews, analyzing journal entries and financial statement results to assure accuracy and completeness.  This position will provide objective analysis and data driven insights, allowing business units and leadership to make fact-based decisions. You will have the chance to serve as a key contributor to a high-growth environment and strengthen your understanding of both operational and technical accounting.

     Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities: 

    • Responsible for managing all aspects of our accounting functions; review and approve journal entries, accruals, and general ledger reconciliations prepared by others (month-end close process)
    • Oversee the completion of general ledger account reconciliations and financial statements; analyze financial statements for accuracy
    • Monitor, evaluate and make appropriate improvements to internal accounting processes ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the company, without any deficiencies
    • Assist in the strategic planning and implementation of new accounting systems, system upgrades, interface programs, or financial software tools
    • Lead team members in the development of reports, forecasts, reconciliation, and the review and analysis of financial results
    • Drive projects around accounting and operational improvements through monitoring, reporting, and responding to metrics and specific financial results and trends
    • Act as a liaison or SME between business units, management, and technology in order to develop appropriate solutions to business problems with the goal of continuous process improvement and enhancements
    • Supervise and be responsible for management of team members to a well-rounded, efficient, highly regarded team; including hiring, training, coaching, counseling, performance appraisals, discipline and termination when necessary, in conjunction with Employee Relations and Human
    • Resources Departments' policies and procedures
    • Report to management any unusual issues with team members or general accounting functions; to include awareness of fraud or collusion
    • Execute judgment and ensure the right decisions are reached to accurately report financial results.
    • Dealing in ambiguity with the ability to reprioritize based on multiple business needs.
    • Prioritization of tasks while providing active coaching to a team of talented individuals.
    • Research, conclude and memorialize technical accounting position papers
