SUMMARY:

In this newly created role, the Accounting Manager will plan and direct the accounting activities of the department.

This role can be remote based, however, only in Central or Eastern Time Zones.  

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll and cash management. This position will work closely with the Shared Services Manager
• Recruits and hires accounting and financial staff and conducts performance evaluations.
• Coordinates training programs for new staff and identifies training needs for current staff.
• Manage the daily and monthly accounting operations including the monthly close schedule.
• Establishes internal controls and guidelines for accounting transactions and budget preparation.
• Oversees the production of periodic financial reports.
• Audits accounts to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
• Presents recommendations to management on short- and long-term financial objectives and policies.
• Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
• Review and approve monthly and quarterly account reconciliations
• Maintain the account mapping. Test system upgrades and changes.
• Journal entry review, approval, and posting
• Support other functions as needed (such as tax, financial reporting, tax)
• Develop good working relationship with business units to understand their financial practices.
• Communicate with business units on additions/changes to journal entries. (Recurring, reclassification, manual, allocations, accruals, statistical, automated, etc.).
• Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.
• Six years or more of related experience required.
• Certified Public Accountant designation preferred.
