Accounting Supervisor

Job Description Summary:
The position is accountable for the accounting operations of the company, to include the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and perform a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

Specific Job Duties:

• Forecasting cash flow and needs.
• Record and analyze variances in collaboration with the CFO
• Oversee and approve the preparation of state and local sales & use tax filings
• Assist in the preparation and closing of quarterly reports, and report results to senior management
• Performing reconciliations of general ledger accounts (those responsible)
• Responsible for completing the Bank Reconciliation using the accounting software
• Oversee the preparation of payroll and reconcile payroll report to the general ledger
• Oversight of the daily banking requirements (those responsible)
• Provide leadership and support to accounts receivable and accounts payable departments
• Actively participate and serve as a knowledge expert in implementing new accounting initiatives
• Maintain a documented system of accounting policies/procedures and ensure company policies and procedures are applied
• Protect assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing a system of internal controls
• Lead and coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
• Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with appropriate GAAP standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of private contributions, loans, and government contracts
• Represents the company when working with onsite auditors to ensure an accurate and timely results
• Stays well informed of any new or changing regulations/possible opportunities
• Assist with recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training Accounting & Finance employees
• In conjunction with the CFO, controlling dept and parent company, establish financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on a bi-weekly, monthly, and annual basis
• Keep financial information and plans confidential
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education/Skills/Physical Job Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
• Minimum of 3 years accounting experience in a senior accounting or financial supervisor role
• Minimum of 2 years managing a team is preferred
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Impeccable analytical and organizational skills
• Self-motivated and self-directed
• Maintain a high level of confidentiality
• Ability to work closely with a senior management team
