Accounting Supervisor supervises accounting staff in daily operations of one or more accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, ledger maintenance, revenue, and asset accounting. Oversees calculating, posting, and verification of financial data for use in maintaining accounting and statistical records. Being an Accounting Supervisor ensures all analysis and reporting are accurate and prepared in compliance with accounting policies and procedures. Establishes and implements productivity and quality standards. Additionally, Accounting Supervisor typically requires a bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent. Typically reports to a manager. The Accounting Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.     Responsibilities

    Job Summary:

    This position is responsible for various accounting functions including, but not limited to: Journal Entry Preparation, Cash Posting, Statistics compilation Reimbursement. This position also assists with posting transactions and other financial analysis as needed.

     

    Essential Functions:

       Foundation:

    • Prepare the monthly Bank Reconciliation to be sent to Tacoma with back-up.
    • Review GL monthly for any additional request by Administration and/or Tacoma.
    • Prepare the monthly Foundation Board Packet after the month-end close for each month
    • Keep track of information required to assist with the IRS 990 filings each year.

     

       Community Benefits (CBISA)

    • As Data Coordinator you are responsible for all activity entered into the LysonSoftware Program each month
    • “Reporters” (ask St. Anthony Hospital staff) provide the information for each Community Benefit (CB) activity as they occur.
    • Maintain an accurate account of these “Occurrences”
    • After each quarter a report is sent the Administration team
    • Several Excel Spreadsheets/Google Sheets to maintain for each Category of the CBISA reporting requirements.

     

    Overlapping

    • Prepare Bank Deposits for all other income receipts. Reconciling to invoices received from various departments. Transport Bank Deposits to the Bank.
    • Gathers documentation to support reimbursement processes and cost report preparation; completes necessary applications for participator, or as requested.
    • Helps prepare invoices received a MBO for shipment/fax to the CHI Accounts Payable Support Center.
    • Communicate with managers the need for invoice viewing and approving. Help with any coding needs.
    • Assist in month end process of closing general ledger.
    • Gathers information and prepares worksheets in preparation for 990 and 990T tax returns prepared by CHI tax
    • Assist in preparation of the annual operating budget for entire MBO.
    • Maintain effective communication between all departments as it pertains to reimbursement accounting, and assures compliance to state and federal regulations.
    • Tracks changes in capital from the general ledger to sub-ledgers; routinely performs G/L to sub-ledger reconciliations; kept abreast of capital policy changes and applies in a timely manner; prepares monthly spreadsheets of capital spending.
    • Balance and reconcile general ledger accounts as assigned.
    • May assist with financial analysis and reporting. 
    • Process real and personal property tax affidavits for non-tax exempt departments; maintains a schedule of current taxed and properties for the MBO.
    • Assists department managers with review of operating statements or provides guidance on other accounting issues as needed, advises managers or others when transactions differ from normal.
    • Other duties as required by Controller or other hospital management. Works with Controller in completing other special projects.
    • Exhibits professionalism by being courteous and maintaining good rapport and working relationships with staff, patients, and visitors.
    • Other duties assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Four (4) year degree in Accounting

    Required Licensure and Certifications:

    • Current Oregon State Nursing Assistant Certification

    Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Good knowledge of Hospital General Ledger accounting system as it relates to cost accounting.
    • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook and ability to operate equipment typical of office environment, including computer programs related to cost reporting is highly recommended.
    • A cordial and friendly attitude in communication skills related to the essential function of coordination.
