Accounts Payable/Receivable Manager manages the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions of an organization to ensure compliance with internal controls and accounting policies. Reviews and evaluates the accounts payable and receivable registers to validate charges and ensure timely and accurate payments and receipt of payments. Being an Accounts Payable/Receivable Manager monitors account aging reports, identifies delinquent accounts, and refers accounts to collection agencies. Verifies customer credit limits and applicable payment terms. Additionally, Accounts Payable/Receivable Manager designs and implements standard policies and procedures to ensure accurate and compliant financial records. Audits methods and procedures of the accounts payable and receivable functions to improve efficiency. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Accounts Payable/Receivable Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Accounts Payable/Receivable Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.   • Summary:
    The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for leading the accounts payable function which includes oversight of the accounts payable team. This position is responsible for ensuring all accounts payables transactions are managed efficiently and effectively, including but not limited to invoice processing, vendor setup, maintenance, inquiries, performance, reporting, accrual management, and payment processing. Additionally, this position will focus on process optimization, efficiency, effectiveness, standardization for quality controls and building a culture of continuous process improvement within the department.
    Duties/Essential Job Functions:
    • Leads and mentors the accounts payable team in a fashion that supports the company’s culture, mission, and values to ensure accurate and effective operation.
    • Responsible for recruiting and retaining team members that help meet the company goals. Creates standards, processes and metrics for productivity and ensures those are met across the A/R team.
    • Develops and implements policies, procedures (invoice processing, 1099s, etc.) and objectives for accounts payable processes to increase efficiency of internal processes, ensuring team is performing at optimal levels. Re-evaluates for continuous improvements and adapts as needed.
    • Trains team members and internal customers regarding accounts payable processes and tools, ensuring team performs in agreement with accounting principles.
    • Ensures accurate and timely reporting; Prepares and distributes metrics as defined by processes and management
    • Maintains direct communication with internal and external customers through consistently meeting and/or exceeding defined SLAs for processes and customer support
    • Performs tasks related to accounts payable including but not limited to:
      • Processing requests for payments: invoices, check requests, national contracts, tax payments, etc.
      • Processing disbursements to internal and external customers
      • Scanning and indexing of documents for accounts payable and business unit operational departments
      • Supplier Master Maintenance
      • Unclaimed property due diligence
      • 1099 tax reporting and due diligence
      • Customer support
      • System administration for approval workflow and e-invoicing applications
    Education or Equivalent Experience:
    • Associate degree or combination of education and equivalent experience is required. A Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance is preferred.
    • A minimum of five years of relevant accounting experience in accounts payable is required.
    • Minimum of two years of management/leadership experience is required.
    • IOMA or IAPP Accounts Payable Certification a plus
    Skills/Knowledge/Abilities (SKA) Required:
    • Advanced/Intermediate MS Office skills preferred
    • Strong communication and customer service support skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, good interactive phone skills
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task and work independently
    • Attention to details and timely resolution of items
    • Ability to work with various groups and individuals effectively
    • Ability to keep sensitive data confidential
    • Independent judgment, analytical thinking, and resourcefulness in the resolution of problems and completion of moderately complex transactions
    • Professional demeanor, which results in maximum customer satisfaction, using a positive approach and patience with all the Company's customers (internal and external) and co- workers
    • Ability to carry out, interpret and enforce existing accounts payable policies, methods, and procedures; ability to apply standard procedure and learned knowledge to develop solutions within established guidelines relating to the accounts payable function.
    • Ability to develop sound business relationships with all appropriate functional areas such as all accounting entities; interfaces effectively with internal and external customers to resolve problems of a non-routine nature

    Incumbent is required to have:
    • Close visual acuity to perform detail-oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm’s reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.
