Our Dog and Cat business unit is searching for an Accounts Payable Manager to lead the AP team in all accounts payable-related functions. Such functions include month-end accounts payable closing procedures, new vendor setup, and ensuring the accuracy and timeline of all payment invoices. Reporting to the Controller, the AP Manager must have in-depth experience with ERP systems with specific experience in manufacturing, basic General Ledger experience, and previous experience working with internal SOX and outside auditors.
This position will be based out of our Monroe, NJ facility with expected travel to our Neptune City, NJ facility on a as need basis.
MEASURES OF SUCCESS:
- Oversee the Accounts Payables team and assist with invoicing and data entry as needed.
- Responsible for month-end financial close process, including preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements, GL account analysis, and sales and margin reporting.
- Supervise all accounts payable functions.
- Responsible for fixed asset accounting.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely payment of invoices, which includes the prompt entry of invoices; proper 3-way matching of invoices with purchase orders and receiving documents; coding of invoices to correct general ledger accounts; and resolving invoicing discrepancies.
- Oversee high-profile accounts for entry and payment.
- Coordinates or performs weekly check-runs and bank wire transfers. Ensures payment discounts are taken advantage of when beneficial to the Company.
- Ensures the proper filing and storage of payment documentation and records. Verify adequate documentation of purchases, which are subject to state use tax, is maintained in case of periodic audits by federal or state inspectors.
- Ensure new vendor documents are obtained prior to payment and coordinate the timely completion and filing of year-end 1099’s.
- Perform and/or coordinate month-end closing procedures for the accounts payable.
- Perform weekly accounts payable reconciliations and un-invoiced receipt audits. Work with appropriate personnel to clean up accounts and vendor statements.
- Perform audits or monitor activity to ensure compliance with accounts payable policies and identify areas/situations that require corrective action.
- Provide assistance to vendors, accounts payable associates, and Company personnel in matters relating to accounts payable processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related area of concentration.
- 5 years of related Accounts Payable experience in a fast-paced and high-volume environment.
- 5-7 years of Accounts Payable managerial experience
- At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing company.
- Extensive experience with accounts payable, un-invoiced receipts, check processing, month-end accounts payable closing and reconciliation, and month-end accounts payable accruals.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of individuals throughout the organization.
- Attention to detail and reliability in checking own work for accuracy.
- Basic understanding of General Ledger activities, W-9 requirements, Sales and Use Tax laws, and other government reporting requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- In-depth experience with ERP systems with specific experience in manufacturing.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and effective communication skills.
