      ENDORSEMENTS:

      Iowa Teaching License with Coaching Endorsement or Valid Iowa Coaching Authorization

      ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

      • Recruit, interview and recommend for hire highly qualified coaches
      • Work with administration to prepare and maintain the activities budget
      • Perform duties to implement all aspects of a co-curricular program
      • Administer eligibility requirements for competitive activities to assure that all students have proper permission forms, insurance verification and other paperwork
      • Prepare and disseminate information regarding student athletics
      • Coordinate the scheduling of school facilities, including evening and weekends
      • Makes necessary arrangements for interscholastic travel
      • Coordinate programming with other district activities directors
      • Mentor and supervise activities personnel and their programs
      • Organize and manage details in an orderly and thorough manner
      • Take initiative and inspire others
      • Prepare reports and other paperwork required
      • Prepare information for the activities calendar
      • Supervise on-site athletic activities and perform athletic related duties during the months of June, July and August as needed
      • Keep updated inventory of all athletic equipment and assure that all uniforms are in satisfactory condition. Order replacement supplies, equipment and uniforms when necessary
      • Arrange for officials for all interscholastic events and make arrangements for payment of officials
      • Arrange for support for all home games, including timekeepers, scorekeepers, supervisors
      • Conduct coaches meetings as needed
      • Promote and model good sportsmanship and maintain an active program that welcomes competing teams, guests and game officials
      • Work with principal in problems of discipline concerning coaches

      ESSENTIAL SKILLS / APTITUDES:

      • Provide active communication and positive relationships with all stakeholders including students, parents, staff, administrators, and community members
      • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proficiency in grammar, spelling, punctuation, and related communication skills, including proofreading, editing, and creating original documents
      • Ability to work independently without supervision and as a team member
      • Report to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis
      • Ability to organize, prioritizes, and assumes responsibility
      • Capable of representing the District in a professional manner, which includes but is not limited to confidentiality, collegiality, and the ability to obtain and utilize additional training, if necessary

      • Must be able to successfully use, maintain, and manipulate Google Suite and Internet technology.

      EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

      Bachelor’s degree in Education required.

      Experience in classroom teaching in sixth through eighth grade preferred. In addition, the specific skills/educational qualifications for this include:

      MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

      Ability to perform basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, decimals and fractions. Ability to assist students in implementing these mathematical concepts.

      REASONING ABILITY:

      Ability to solve problems effectively. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

      The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
