Basic Function
To manage, communicate, supervise, plan and carry out activities which meet the needs of all residents.
1. Planning and implementation of individual and group activities.
3. Activities provided during days, evenings, and weekends.
5. Carries out activities part of care plan.
8. Identifies and provides adaptive devices for those with sensory deficits (i.e., large-print books, tape recorders).
9. Promotes self-esteem and social interaction with residents.
10. Identifies and provides activities for those with special needs (i.e., depressed
terminally ill, bedridden).
13. Directs updates to the schedule and R. 0. boards.
16. Provides activities that relate to residents' interests before they came to this facility.
18. Maintains a clean work and storage area.
21. Observes for resident safety when in resident care areas.
25. Accompanies and assists clergy as needed.
26. Prepares sites and materials for activities.
31. Gives clear and specific instructions to activity aides.
32. Provides timely evaluations and appropriate disciplinary action.
33. Adjusts and schedules activity staff to accommodate resident needs and code requirements.
34. Possesses and applies knowledge of state/federal guidelines to Activity Dept.
35. Informs appropriate personnel of identified needs, changes and concerns.
37. Participates in Q.A.A. as directed by Administrator.
40. Meets with dept. monthly and as needed to discuss changes and concerns.
41. Contacts local newspaper regarding press releases.
44. Assesses needs regarding retention and recruitment of staff; makes recommendations to Administrator.
45. Recruits, interviews, and hires needed activity staff.
46. Orients and instructs staff in policies and procedures of facility and the Activity department.
