Description
Betsy Ross nursing is searching for energetic, enthusiastic individuals to join the activities department. Qualified candidates must be upbeat and compassionate. The facility is a long term care nursing facility. Activities aides assist with performing different activities for the residents, performing one on one visits with residents. The goal is to keep the resident and family engaged and active in the environment.
Education: Completion of high school is preferred but not required.
Overview: Assists in implementing facility's activity program to meet the physical, mental, emotional and social needs and interests of the residents. Assist residents in becoming meaningfully engaged.
Qualifications and Job Skills: Preferred to have familiarity with recreational therapy principles and practices; residents' rights; and facility's policies and procedures. Must have good skills in working and communicating with residents. Must show energy, enthusiasm, and creativity in working with residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing facility's activities program, including social events, outings, regular recurring activities, and other recreational opportunities to meet the physical, intellectual, emotional, and social interests and needs of the residents.
Assist in all aspects of facility social events, outings, and other activities for residents;
Assist residents going to, moving about during, and returning from activities using good body mechanics and safe transfer techniques;
Assist in orienting and coordinating the involvement of others who participate in facility activities;
Assist with facility newsletter;
Maintain monthly calendar of events and activities in facility;
Assist with charting, flowsheet documentation, and other paperwork related to recreation therapy department;
Is responsible for maintaining recreation equipment and supplies.
