Being an Admitting Clerk reviews paperwork and obtains all necessary consents and signatures from patients or family. Explains the facility's policies and procedures and answers routine questions. Additionally, Admitting Clerk coordinates patient intake and bed assignment processes with clinical or administrative teams. Follows all established policies and standards to preserve patient confidentiality, ensure data security and comply with all applicable regulations. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Admitting Clerk works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Admitting Clerk (Part-Time)
Flexible day & evening shifts and weekends (periodically) are required. In this capacity, individuals are responsible for gathering information necessary to provide a database for patients receiving hospital services. Included are identification, insurance, consent, and record keeping involved for whatever type service the patient receives. Admitting functions are expanded to include switchboard, cashier, and secretarial duties as assigned. A high School diploma or equivalent is required, as well as excellent customer service and phone skills. Candidates must possess a functioning knowledge of computer skills and attention to detail will be required. Knowledge of medical insurance is highly considered.
