    Position Description:

    Assists the Director of Family and Social Services by providing direct services to local schools, such as therapeutic interventions with students, consultation concerning intervention strategies, referral and follow‐up, assessment and in‐service.

    Reports To:

    Director of Family and Social Services

    Scope of Responsibility:

    • Provides Social Work Services to students including students who qualified for services as part of their IAP or IEP.
    • Conducts psycho-social assessments, administers, scores, interprets, and records findings of a variety of assessments according to established procedures.
    • Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary team in conducting Bulletin 1508 evaluations to determine eligibility for School Social Work Services and participate as a member of the IEP team.
    • Communicates findings and recommendations to parents and appropriate school personnel.
    • provides computer generated assessment reports within the required timelines.
    • Conducts functional behavioral assessments and behavior support plans as needed for students.
    • Assists in development and implementation of Tier I, 2 and 3 interventions.
    • Provides crisis intervention services by identifying and assessing student/family needs and initiating an appropriate action plan.
    • Provides Social Emotional Learning to students at their assigned schools.
    • Completes Mc Kinney Vento assessments and implements the Check and Connect Program.
    • Actively participates, and presents at professional workshops, in-services, monthly staff meetings, and peer study groups.
    • Conducts professional development for school personnel
    • Participates as a member of a variety of teams and committees.
    • Provides information and community resource referrals for the child and family.
    • Works directly with the child and family to collaborate with community partners.
    • Participates, when called upon, in Crisis Team interventions at schools.
    • Provides high school planning and career awareness activities as appropriate.
    • Collaborates to identify students with attendance issues and coordinate appropriate referrals for services.
    • Timely recording of case notes in the electronic record in accordance with Medicaid billing and program requirements.
    • Follows established department guidelines.
    • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics of the Louisiana State Board of Social Work Examiners.
    • Works collaboratively with the Program Leads and completes all other tasks in a timely manner.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned by the Director of Family and Social Services or the Executive Director of Health and Related Services.

    Skills and Qualifications:

    We seek detail‐oriented, independent self‐starters who demonstrate an unwavering commitment to raising student achievement and who have a record of high performance in challenging situations. Successful candidates will also demonstrate:

    • Master’s degree from an accredited university/college in Social Work.
    • LMSW working toward LCSW licensure with documentation of current supervision by a LCSW-BACS.
    • Appropriate certification as a Social Worker (Qualified or Provisional) as described in Bulletin 746 of the Louisiana Department of Education.
    • Demonstrated experience in developing/implementing interventions and conducting evaluations.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills in multiple settings and have the ability to be an engaging change agent and culture‐creator that can inspire and motivate.
    • Exceptional analytical and problem‐solving skills, with an ability to use quantitative and qualitative data to make decisions and recommendations.
    • Working knowledge of federal and state laws, policies and regulations relevant to special education
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word and skilled in Google Suite.
    • Working knowledge of telehealth platforms and experience in providing virtual mental health services.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with other professionals to obtain positive solutions.
    • Explicit knowledge of evidenced based practices.
    • High degree of professionalism, with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, while consistently demonstrating sound judgment and disciplined thinking.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • LCSW
    • Bilingual
    • Three or more years of experience working with children/adolescents and their families.

    Physical Involvement:

    Sitting is a required part of each work day. Must be able to operate office equipment. Standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting up to 10 pounds is sometimes required. Ability to provide own transportation to schools, work locations and meeting sites. Mobility skills necessary to access a variety of work locations.
