Adult Education Teacher is responsible for teaching courses to adults in a classroom setting. Develops and implements appropriate course work, activities, and assessments for an adult class. Being an Adult Education Teacher evaluates and monitors student's performance, and helps students identify and pursue personal goals. Assesses and documents students' progress. Additionally, Adult Education Teacher typically requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Adult Education Teacher occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function. Teacher Leader for Student Support – Adult Education

    Note: Teachers dually certified in TESOL, Bilingual Education or ESL, with experience in Sheltered Instruction or fluency in a language other than English, will be given preference for all Stamford Public School positions.


    General Statement:

    This is a Teacher Leadership position focused on improving student achievement in the high school credit diploma program, supporting staff development, and assisting in the implementation of Workforce Development and Enrichment programs.  The ideal candidate will be an instructional leader with aspirations toward school administration, having experience in data analysis, coaching teachers,
     
    Major Responsibilities:
    • Performs duties in the areas of student instruction and supervision.
    • Assist in the supervision of the HSCDP, Civics, and Enrichment programs.
    • Demonstrates strong content knowledge and andragogy in reading and writing.
    • Effectively communicates with students, faculty, and outside organizations.
    • Collaborates with staff and students to develop and monitor effective programs.
    • Effectively uses data and assessments to implement differentiated instructional plans.
    • Assists in planning and facilitating professional development.
    • Encourages and maintains student involvement and retention.
    • Supports students in obtaining required certifications for graduation.
    • Supports matters related to student attendance.
    • Manages building procedures for state testing.
    • Assists in the preparation of State & Federal-based grants.
    • Completes other tasks assigned by the building administrator to support the general operations of the program.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with school administrator and staff.
    • Demonstrated leadership qualities and potential.
    • Superior communication skills (oral and written).
    • Evidence of strong organizational skills and successful completion of project.
    • Proficiency in online learning applications and social media (e.g. Google Classroom, Facebook, What’s App)
    • Knowledge of and/or demonstrate the ability to learn and implement Operating Systems (i.e. Windows); Office suites (i.e. Microsoft Office, Google Docs); Presentation Software (i.e. PowerPoint); Spreadsheets (i.e. Excel, Google Spreadsheets); Communication and Collaboration tools (i.e. Google Meet); Student Information Systems (i.e. Naviance, PowerSchool); or any other technology deemed relevant for this position.
     
    Qualifications:
    • CT CSDE Educator Certification endorsed for:
    • High School Credit Diploma Program (106)
    • Successful teaching experience (minimum five years)
     
    Term:
    Three-Years
     
    Work Year:
    Five days before school opens and five days after school closes. 
    Requires two evenings a week, 5:30-9:30 p.m.  Additional compensation at the Adult Education rate per the SEA contract.
