Advertising Coordinator is responsible for the conceptual design, creation, and delivery of advertising campaigns through media channels, including digital, social, print, and broadcast. Analyzes stakeholder requirements and defines objectives for advertising. Being an Advertising Coordinator develops audience targeting and strategy. Organizes assigned project tasks and timelines that ensure on-time delivery of projects. Additionally, Advertising Coordinator incorporates processes to ensure advertising quality, consistency, and effective branding. Coordinates with vendors to design and deliver promotional materials aligned with marketing campaigns and events. Monitors campaigns and analyzes performance to make recommendations or recalibrate based on results. Typically requires a bachelor's degree in marketing, advertising or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Advertising Coordinator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Gaining exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Teaching faculty at Guilford Technical Community College are responsible for supporting student success by creating an optimum learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. He/she will be responsible for quality instruction and for effective participation and interest in the total affairs of the college.

    The Division of Business, Creative and Performing Arts at Guilford Technical Community College seeks an energetic, enthusiastic and collaborative educator to join our team as a part-time Advertising and Graphic Design program instructor. Under the supervision of the Department Chair, this individual will prepare and teach courses in each semester designed to support our Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree program to include Computer Graphics, Computer Graphics Applications, Graphic Design, Design Applications, Typography, Photographic Imaging, and Illustration.
    The successful candidate should be prepared to integrate technology skills into the classroom, be available to teach at times and locations that meet the needs of students and be committed to working constructively with all facets of our program within a community college setting. This faculty position will complement and broaden our graphic design program as we look to expand the concentration’s curricular offerings to include emerging areas in new media. Therefore, the ideal candidate would also have specialization in one or more areas related to: motion design, time-based media, video production, interactive media design, UI and UX design, Web Design, animation and/or traditional print design.
    Successful applicants will be placed into our pool of adjuncts to be assigned sections or serve as substitute instructors on an as needed basis.
    Duties/Functions
    Teaching
    Prepare & teach departmental courses to include:
    • developing learner-centered lesson plans
    • employing teaching strategies & instructional materials for different learning styles
    • incorporating, as pedagogically appropriate, current technology in the classroom, distance learning, and laboratory environments
    • creating and modeling a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population
    • preparing, distributing and utilizing instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate
    • conducting an appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education as appropriate

    Professional Development
    Maintain a professional status that supports the instructional mission by:
    • participating in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field; maintaining current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation
    • participating in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies
    Administration
    Provide daily & ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records to include:
    • maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces including upkeep of assigned equipment
    • providing for the security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials and maintaining safe working conditions
    • maintaining student records (e.g., grades and attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using a variety of technology-based programs (e.g., Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle)
    • complying with all applicable college, state, and federal rules and regulations
    Student Support
    Provide an environment conducive to student success to include:
    • addressing student concerns in a timely manner
    • promoting retention/persistence by assisting students to develop strategies for success
    • referring students to campus and community resources when appropriate

    • Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem-solving, responsibility, and teamwork.

    • Bachelors of Fine Arts (BFA) in Graphic Design or related field that includes 18 hours in Graphic Design, from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
    Education Preferred
    • Masters of Arts/Masters of Fine Arts (MA/MFA) in Graphic Design or closely related field that includes 18 hours in Graphic Design, from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution
    Experience Required
    • 3 years relevant industry or field experience on Graphic Design projects
    • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications
    • Post-secondary teaching and/or professional training experience in any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars
    Experience Preferred
    • Four or more years relevant industry or field experience on Graphic Design projects
    • Community college teaching experience
    • Experience in interactive, UI or UX design
    • Experience teaching typography, visual design and conceptual problem solving
    • Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems
    • Demonstrated involvement in the design community through projects or organizations
