Aerospace Engineer researches and develops structural engineering specifications for aerospace products, parts, or associated operations to improve the efficiency and reliability of aerospace systems. Analyzes results of stress tests on various craft and missile parts to determine material durability and tolerances. Being an Aerospace Engineer oversees flight tests of prototypes and analyzes resulting data to validate flight characteristics and identify necessary improvements. Conducts calculations and utilizes simulations to evaluate aerodynamics, structural integrity, propulsion efficiency, and the effect on fuel consumption of new or existing materials. Additionally, Aerospace Engineer utilizes CAE, 3-D, and digital modeling to create detailed plans and specifications to support production. Assists quality assurance and purchasing teams with the evaluation of new or existing suppliers, products and materials, or technologies. Understands and complies with all federal regulatory requirements and specifications. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aerospace Engineer work is closely managed.     We are seeking talented professionals to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment as a Repair Quality Engineer at our northern Cincinnati, Ohio Repair and Overhaul Division (less than 30 minutes from Dayton and/or Northern Kentucky).  CTL Repair and Overhaul Division specializes in composite and metallic components for commercial aircraft and aero derivative engines.
     
    This position offers an excellent opportunity for an Aerospace Repair Quality Engineer with a detail-oriented approach to work in an empowered setting with a broad range of duties.
     
    Job Description:
    As a Repair Quality Engineer, you will review engine components and repair procedures for part repair and overhaul.  Reporting to the QC Manager in Repair and Overhaul, the successful candidate will have the following experiences and abilities:
    • Inspection of engine components.
    • Review/Approve written and illustrated repair plans, bills of material and outside purchase specifications per engineering drawings/specifications.
    • Provide training and support to QC Inspectors.
    • Participate in quality/engineering review of discrepant parts including Cause and Corrective Action.
    • Coordinate new and current business requirements with Production, Contracts and Engineering.
    • Support Production in delivery of products to customers on schedule.
    Qualifications/Requirements:
    To be considered for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:
    • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in an aerospace/aviation engineering role, preferably at an MRO/Part 145 component repair station or aviation inspection/mechanic experience.
    • High School Graduate or equivalent
    • American Citizen or Green Card Holder
    • Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
    • Ability to interact with people on the shop floor, good social skills, and able to work with diverse work groups.
    • Must have excellent communication skills both oral and written.
    • Must have excellent organizational skills.
    Desired Characteristics:
    • Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering bachelor’s degree.
    • Familiarity with GE/CFM Engine Shop Manuals and Standard Practices.
    • Airframe and Powerplant License.
    • Knowledge of FAA regulations.
    • Airline and/or MRO experience.
    • Technical writing experience.
    • Prior manufacturing or fabrication experience.
    • CMM operating and/or programming experience.
     
    This position requires you to undergo a DOT/FAA pre-employment drug test for the following prohibited drugs (as defined in 49 CFR § 40.3) prior to being hired or transferred into a Department of Transportation (DOT) safety-sensitive position as defined in 14 CFR part 120[1]:
    • Marijuana,
    • Cocaine,
    • Opioids,
    • Phencyclidine (PCP), and 
    • Amphetamines.
