    Job Overview:

    The High School Agriculture and FFA (Future Farmers of America) Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering instruction related to agriculture, animal sciences, plant sciences, agribusiness, and related fields to high school students. The teacher will work with students in a classroom and laboratory setting, as well as provide guidance and mentorship through the FFA program. The teacher will be responsible for creating a positive learning environment that fosters student curiosity, innovation, and growth.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Design and deliver instruction in agriculture, animal sciences, plant sciences, agribusiness, and related fields.
    • Develop lesson plans, curriculum, and assessments that align with state standards and the needs of the students.
    • Create a safe and engaging classroom and laboratory environment that promotes learning and encourages student participation.
    • Manage and maintain classroom and laboratory equipment, agriculture complex and facilities, supplies, and materials.
    • Provide individualized instruction and support to students with varying levels of academic abilities and learning styles.
    • Participate in professional development activities to stay current with developments in the field and teaching practices.
    • Provide mentorship and guidance to students participating in the FFA program.
    • Plan and coordinate FFA activities and events, including field trips, competitions, and community service projects.
    • Collaborate with other teachers, school administrators, and community partners to support student success.
    • Attend parent-teacher conferences and communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on student progress.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture Education, Animal Science, Plant Science, or related field.
    • State teaching certification or the ability to obtain certification.
    • Strong content knowledge in agriculture, animal sciences, plant sciences, and agribusiness.
    • Experience teaching high school students is preferred.
    • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills.
    • Knowledge of FFA programs and activities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, and community partners.

    Working Conditions:

    The High School Agriculture and FFA Teacher will typically work during regular school hours, with some additional time required during the summer for FFA activities and events. The teacher will work in a classroom and laboratory setting, which may involve exposure to agricultural equipment, animals, and chemicals. The teacher may also be required to attend evening or weekend events, such as FFA competitions or community service projects.
