For our HQ in the center of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, we are looking for a:

Sustainability Specialist (Biodiversity)

As our Sustainability Specialist you will join the growing sustainability team of Tradin Organic. The team has a global scope and covers all main entities within Tradin Organic, such as Trabocca which will also be significant part of your role. Focused on biodiversity, you will be responsible for implementing our deforestation-free sourcing policy, including compliance with the European Union Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). In addition, you will research and propose a new approach to biodiversity impact measurement and reporting, including compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). For both topics, you will do detailed analyses on land use, forest cover trends, carbon sequestration, impact of regenerative practices, and much more. You will also work closely together with colleagues, suppliers, partners and customers, and be the main contact point for internal and external stakeholders for questions concerning biodiversity and deforestation.

You will report to the global Sustainability Manager of Tradin Organic and have regular contact with the global Quality Manager of Trabocca. If the workload allows, and your interest aligns, the position could also support the Sustainability Specialist that working on social due diligence in our global supply chains. 

Your responsibilities

• Lead the further development and implementation of the deforestation-free sourcing policy of Tradin Organic and ensure EUDR compliance;
• Lead on the development of a new approach to biodiversity impact measurement and reporting, aligned with the CSRD;
• Support the roll out of social certifications in our supply chains (Fairtrade, UTZ, SMETA, etc.);
• Support promoting our sustainability efforts to our customers and external stakeholders and convince them to get involved;
• Analyse supplier data to verify compliance with regulations and internal policies, create analysis reports;
• Coordinate mitigation policies with suppliers when applicable;
• Coordinate supplier sustainability data administration in the ERP system and applicable sustainability platforms;
• Support internal communication on sustainability and sourcing projects;
• Support global sales teams, quality teams and other units within Tradin Organic with sustainability issues and questions;
• Sparring partner for Marketing & Communications strategy and Sourcing Development strategy.

What we ask?

• Bachelor/University degree in Agribusiness/Agriculture/ Sustainability related fields;
• Minimum of 1-3 years work experience in a similar role;
• Experience in biodiversity measurement and/or deforestation analysis;
• Expert writing skills in English;
• Experience with sustainability reporting;
• Interested in/affinity with organic production;
• Self-starter and excellent project management skills.

Desirable skills:

• Experience in global agri-food supply chains;
• Experience with sustainability reporting and GHG reporting;
• Ability to work under different circumstances and with different cultures;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Communication skills for liaising and communicating with suppliers, customers, and internal departments in Dutch, German, French, Spanish, or other languages would be a plus.
