Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice
An Aircraft Maintenance Apprentice is responsible for assisting an aircraft mechanic with inspecting, servicing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing aircraft engines, landing gear, flight controls, avionics, and all other associated airframe components.
During the program apprentices will gain the time, knowledge and skills required to acquire an FAA sign off to take the written, oral, and practical examinations to obtain an Airframe & Powerplant license. Specific duties may vary depending on the individuals’ level of experience.
During an apprenticeship program, apprentices work under the direct supervision of Licensed Airframe & Powerplant Technicians and must meet all FAA regulations regarding aircraft maintenance. Apprenticeship training may include classroom work as well as OJT (on-the-job-training) experience.
Job Requirements:
· High School Diploma or Equivalent
· Possess a valid driver’s license
· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Must be willing to work a flexible schedule that may include nights, weekends and/or holidays.
· Must be able to lift 20 lbs and often lifting above head.
· Must be able to fit into tight places.
· Must have physical dexterity sufficient to perform repetitive tasks and motions, including bending at the waist and knees, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, climb ladders, aircraft and support stands, and sustaining those positions for extended amounts of time.
· Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (high visibility clothing, hearing protection, safety glasses) when required.
· Professional that is able to work as a team member or independently.
· Must have the ability to be trained to use calibrated hand and specialized tools.
· Must be able to read and understand English in order to properly use aircraft manuals.
· Possess quality decision making capability and mental alertness to ensure safety.
· Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screen
