Aircraft Maintenance Manager manages engineering tasks involving changes or alterations to designs or specifications of aircraft parts, modules, or systems to ensure calibration and safety. Implements procedures to guide the routine inspection of aircraft components to facilitate optimal and reliable functionality. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Manager oversees the scheduling and timely completion of repairs and maintenance ensuring budget adherence. Reviews documented issues and reports to determine repairability and evaluates recommendations for replacements, repairs, or modifications to ensure conformance with safety standards and performance requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Manager evaluates aircraft data and technical documents and researches new technologies to identify areas to improve practices or processes. Develops internal policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal aviation regulations and safety standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Aircraft Maintenance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required. Daily Duties:
- Schedule regular preventive maintenance
- Hand out daily work assignments
- Coordinate with Fleet Managers, Drivers and Safety for repairs needed
- Maximize efficiency and minimize the cost of repairs
- Assist technicians in developing skills
KPI’s:
- Unscheduled downtime
- Reactive maintenance work hours
- Maintenance costs
- Work order cycle time
- Increasing work planning
Requirements
Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for managing a team of Mechanics and Assistants in alignment with company safety policies and DOT regulations to ensure a safe and efficient fleet
Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain preventative maintenance plan for heavy duty trucks and trailers
- Hiring, oversight and direction of all maintenance/shop employees
- Supervise all maintenance on trucks, trailers, and shop equipment.
- Fielding and resolving all breakdown calls
- Maintain existing and develop new relationships with vendors
- Plan daily manpower to meed workflow
- Manage parts inventory and oversee warranty info.
- Notify drivers and schedule all Tractor and Trailer PM's in company shop or in partner shops and on the road.
- Read all completed repair orders to ensure all work was done correctly.
- Requirements
- Experience in fleet maintenance operations, developing strategies to enhance performance and managing shop personnel
- Knowledge of heavy duty tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Basic Computer proficiency
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude
- ASE certification or an active is a big plus but not required
