Aircraft Maintenance Manager manages engineering tasks involving changes or alterations to designs or specifications of aircraft parts, modules, or systems to ensure calibration and safety. Implements procedures to guide the routine inspection of aircraft components to facilitate optimal and reliable functionality. Being an Aircraft Maintenance Manager oversees the scheduling and timely completion of repairs and maintenance ensuring budget adherence. Reviews documented issues and reports to determine repairability and evaluates recommendations for replacements, repairs, or modifications to ensure conformance with safety standards and performance requirements. Additionally, Aircraft Maintenance Manager evaluates aircraft data and technical documents and researches new technologies to identify areas to improve practices or processes. Develops internal policies and guidelines to ensure compliance with federal aviation regulations and safety standards. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a director. The Aircraft Maintenance Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. To be an Aircraft Maintenance Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.     Job Responsibilities :

    • Perform all duties of the job classification.
    • Assign and direct the productive efforts of assigned employees to ensure the timely completion of all required maintenance.
    • Coordinate all maintenance-related actions with other affected work centers.
    • Authorize cannibalization actions as required.
    • Instruct assigned employees on proper maintenance methods and procedures as required.
    • Responsible for the satisfactory completion of assigned work and the preparation and maintenance of required records.
    • Formulate necessary reports to the Government.
    • Enforce foreign object damage (FOD), hazardous waste, and tool control programs.
    • Assist in training programs as required for employees assigned to him / her.
    • Ensure required quality control inspections are complied with.
    • Maintain appropriate records of all work accomplished.
    • May be required to perform simple computer input functions.
    • Perform other related duties as required.
    • Assist as directed to ensure safety, security, and preservation of Government / Company-owned equipment.
    • Perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
    • Comply with all established general and industrial safety rules and regulations as applicable to the contract, facilities, and job assignment.
    • Responsible for the satisfactory completion of all job assignments. Shall maintain discipline by counsel and reprimand when necessary.

    Applies comprehensive technical knowledge and experience to solve complex problems. Ensure safe, quality maintenance / flight line operations to support the Program flight schedule.

    Requires a high degree of expertise in aviation maintenance. Must have an in-depth knowledge of applicable technical manuals, service bulletins, maintenance manuals, maintenance forms, and work progress sheets.

    Must be able to pass any Government / Company licensing / qualification requirements for the position.

    • Must have the ability to use good judgment, make sound decisions and effectively direct the work of other employees. Employees designated as Lead must be able to read, speak, write and understand the English language.
    • Must be customer-oriented.

    Qualifications :

    • Shall possess a background in the field of aircraft maintenance and material support.
    • Minimum of 10 years experience (within the last 20 years) supervising and assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts of workers performing aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modifications.
    • The 10 years' experience shall include a one-year minimum as a Maintenance or Production Control Supervisor.
    • Shall act as the Assistant Maintenance Officer and Maintenance Material Control Officer for the purpose of fulfilling qualification and programmatic duties IAW COMNAVAIRFORINST (series).
