Aircraft Mechanic Assistant maintains, repairs, and troubleshoots aircraft airframe and engine to ensure aircraft conformance with FAA regulations. Troubleshoots and determines malfunctioning parts. Being an Aircraft Mechanic Assistant recommends part changes or adjustments to aircraft specifications to improve engine performance. Documents and maintains paperwork for maintenance according to regulations. Additionally, Aircraft Mechanic Assistant may require completion of an apprenticeship or a FAA-approved aviation maintenance technician program. Requires a high school diploma. Requires FAA Aircraft and Engine Mechanic License. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Aircraft Mechanic Assistant works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area.
