    GROUNDSKEEPER/HANDYMAN

    Key Responsibilities (Essential):

    The Groundskeeper/Handyman is responsible for maintaining the landside grounds of the airport as well as performing routine installation, maintenance and repair tasks. The Groundskeeper/Handyman also performs landscaping tasks using power equipment and hand tools to maintain the facility's grounds.

    Duties/Responsibilities

    • Mows lawns, trim weeds, and rakes leaves as assigned.
    • Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area.
    • Empties trash and recycling containers.
    • Trim bushes, shrubs, and hedges.
    • Prepares soil and plants flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs.
    • Plant trees and prunes them when necessary.
    • Cuts and removes trees as needed.
    • Water plants and lawns and adds fertilizer as needed.
    • Completes snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways as needed during winter months.
    • Operates a snow blower or snowplow to clear roads, driveways, and parking lots.
    • Performs routine maintenance on power equipment.
    • Repair and paint doors, windows, walls, ceilings, and other parts of the building.
    • Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions.
    • Adheres to all safety precautions.

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • At least 1-year's maintenance experience.
    • Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.
    • Must have knowledge of painting, hand tools, caulking, power tools, basic math, handyman experience.
    • Must possess hands-on maintenance experience of small equipment.
    • Demonstrates general grounds/facility maintenance knowledge.
    • Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
    • Excellent Communications Skills.

    Education

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Demonstrated maintenance experience required.
    • Must possess a valid Drivers' License as a condition of employment.
    • Must be eligible to obtain all Airport staff access and security clearances from the Authorities.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
