    The Team

    The Asset Allocation Research Team (AART) consists of 12 members in Boston, Massachusetts under the leadership of the Managing Director of Research. The team leverages quantitative, qualitative, economic, and market insights to provide robust, research-based recommendations to investment teams across the Asset Management division of Fidelity Investments.  With diverse backgrounds in economics, finance, political science, engineering and math disciplines, the primary focus of the research team is providing strategic and dynamic asset allocation insights for Fidelity Asset Management Solutions (FAMS) and Strategic Advisers (SAI). The team also produces thought leadership and broad asset-class positioning and insights to the broader Fidelity asset management community and to Fidelity’s clients and distribution channels.

    The Role

    Reporting to the Managing Director of Research, the research analyst will work closely with analysts on the Asset Allocation Research Team and other colleagues to support day-to-day research needs. You will play a role in developing and communicating key conclusions to the investment staff. The position is located at the company’s headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.

    Qualifications

    • Experience applying fundamental economic and investment analytical tools to develop research insights across a wide variety of both macro and investment-related topics. This includes self-initiated independent work, as well as collaboration on team projects.
    • Ability to translate analytical approaches into actionable asset allocation conclusions, with an emphasis on connecting empirical economics and multi-disciplinary tools to expected market outcomes.
    • At least 7-8 years of direct investment experience, making decisions or recommendations for portfolios. Expertise in one or more fixed-income, equity, or commodities asset categories is preferable, as the role will include a focus on constructing frameworks for evaluating individual asset categories and connectivity to Fidelity’s bottom-up research organizations.  
    • Demonstrated ability to think critically and across multiple dimensions, using technical skills and quantitative output to support meaningful conclusions.  
    • Experience providing updates, both written and verbal, that communicate key economic and financial-market trends and their investment implications.  In this role, there will be regular interaction with multi-asset teams across Fidelity asset management and opportunity for thought-leadership activities for the distribution channels.

    Fidelity's working model blends the best of working offsite with maximizing time together in person to meet associate and business needs.
