The Opportunity: Animal Care Attendant
The Human Society of Boulder Valley is seeking a motivated, polite, team-player for the position of Animal Care Attendant. The Animal Care Attendant (ACA) provides general care of shelter animals including feeding, cleaning of animal kennels and housing, and reduces the potential for animal illness by disinfecting areas of the animal shelter facility. Part-time and full-time positions are available.
The pay rate for the Animal Care Attendant is $15.00 per hour plus $2.00 per hour for hours worked on Saturdays and Sundays. Flexible scheduling is available although candidates must be able to work at least one weekend day. A pre-employment background check and drug screen are required for all employment candidates.

Responsibilities include:
- Providing adequate food and water to shelter animals each day.
- Cleaning shelter kennels, crates, cages, and animal items/equipment using sanitizer system each day.
- Ensuring the kennel environment is clean and safe for animals and people.
- Operating industrial dishwasher and distributing or stocking clean supplies throughout shelter.
- Operating industrial laundry machines and organizing linens and laundry for the shelter.
- Observing and reporting changes in animal health or temperament to supervisor.
- Performing other custodial duties as needed to ensure animal housing is clean and free of hazards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or any combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position. Basic computer skills in a Windows environment is preferred. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds with assistance is required. Ability to sustain 8-hour workday while standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting and lifting.

A highly motivated, polite, team-player who is able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle several tasks at once. Knowledge of animal breeds and behavior helpful. Sincere interest in animal welfare and the mission of the Humane Society of Boulder Valley.
Working Conditions & Schedule
Work is performed in an animal kennel environment. Exposure to animals and cleaning agents at all times. Subject to animal bites and scratches while handling animals of questionable temperament. Daily lifting of up to 50 pounds with assistance. Shifts are spent standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, squatting and lifting. Typical workday is 7am - 6pm weekends; 8am - 7pm weekdays. Shifts are eight (8) hours in length with a 1-hour unpaid lunch break. Weekend and holiday availability is required. Employees will be regularly scheduled to work at least one weekend day per week.
