Cahaba Mountain Brook Animal Clinic is a vet clinic in the heart of Mountain Brook that also offers boarding, bathing, and grooming! We have a lot of moving parts so we are looking for animal loving individuals that are good team players, able to communicate effectively and efficiently, and are hard working. It is crucial that we work as a team between all departments, and have an outstanding love and patience for all animals!

Some of our responsibilities include:

• Cleaning & sanitizing kennels and floors
• Feeding dogs. For this, it is important to be able to understand written instruction in order to feed the dog correctly
• Walking dogs multiple times a day
• Reporting minor health issues to our vet techs, like diarrhea or vomit.
• Bathing dogs and drying them. The drying process can include de- matting where we take the time to separate and brush through mats, this can be a long process
• Trimming cat or dog toenails, often times they don't like to cooperate so it is necessary to be patient but still persistent
• Taking care of cats, this includes feeding, changing litter, and cleaning up after them.
• Taking food inventory and lifting food bags up to 35lbs on to shelves 5 feet off the floor
• Understanding our bath list and being able to prioritize the dogs we need to bathe first
• Taking pets upstairs to the lobby to go home with their owner, so a bit of client interaction is necessary
• Being able to handle aggressive dogs. Occasionally we will have dogs that are aggressive towards us, but they will still need to be fed, walked, etc.. We've got safety measures in place to help us handle these situations and make sure everybody is safe but it is very important to be able to control your fear or panic, since dogs can pick up on nervous energy it often times makes the situation worse.

On weekdays, you will either work a 6:30am-3:30pm or 10am- 7pm, both shifts have a 1 hour lunch break. For weekends, you will either work Saturday or Sunday, those shifts are 6:30am- 12pm, take a lunch and come back at 2:30, then leave when the closing work is done, usually around 5:30 or 6pm. Weekends and holidays are a must! We have to take care of the pets in our care 365 days a year.
