Under supervision, directs and helps manage the daily operations and work activities of staff and volunteers providing humane care, treatment, and outcomes to the animals at Jefferson County’s municipal animal shelter (C.A.R.E. - Companion Animal Rescue and Education), and performs related duties as required. ```Responsibilities```
- Assist the Director in overseeing daily operations of the facility
- Manage and supervise staff members, ensuring proper training and adherence to company policies
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients, addressing any concerns or inquiries
- Assist with dog and cat behavior assessments
- Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of kennels and common areas
- Coordinate and schedule appointments for veterinary services
- Assist with heavy lifting and handling of dogs as needed
- Maintain accurate records of client information, pet vaccinations, and medical history
-Help coordinate and assign tasks to volunteers
-Aid in fundraising ideas, shelter programs that benefit the community, and plans for the future
```Experience```
- Previous experience in a kennel, rescue OR veterinary setting is required
- Strong knowledge of dog handling techniques, cat handling and behavior management
- Experience in customer service and client relations
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures and terminology is preferred
- Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and stand for extended periods of time
