Animal Technician, Sr. provides daily care for research animals of various species. Cleans and disinfects cages and equipment. Being an Animal Technician, Sr. monitors the health and well being of the animals, maintains logs of animal diet, behavior, vital signs and other data. Follows standard operating procedures and all biosafety and animal welfare regulations. Additionally, Animal Technician, Sr. may perform procedures to collect samples. May transport animals to and from laboratories. Requires a high school diploma. May require Assistant Laboratory Animal Technician (ALAT) certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science (AALAS) or other certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Animal Technician, Sr. works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team. As a Veterinary Technician, you will assist our veterinarians in providing high-quality care to our animal patients. Your responsibilities will include performing various medical procedures, administering medications, and providing support to both the veterinary team and pet owners.
Duties:
- Assist veterinarians in routine examinations and surgical procedures
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed by veterinarians
- Perform laboratory tests and analyze samples
- Prepare animals for surgery and monitor their vital signs during procedures
- Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery progress
- Take X-rays
- Providing cold laser treatments
-Assisting in Ultrasounds
- Clean and maintain medical equipment and instruments
- Educate/Guide pet owners on proper animal care, medication administration, and post-treatment instructions.
- Assist with pet grooming, including bathing, brushing, and nail trimming
- Maintain accurate medical records

Qualifications:
- Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification preferred
- Previous experience working as a Veterinary Technician is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of animal care, physiology, and veterinary terminology
- Proficient in performing animal catheterization and aseptic techniques
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and equipment
- Ability to operate X-ray machines
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate pet owners effectively
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
