Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY: Coordinates staff and resources required for operations of the Operating Room (OR) on a day-to-day basis.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and coordinate clinical operating room activities, including patient care and staff scheduling. Monitor the clinical performance of operating room personnel and ensure compliance with hospital regulations and protocols. Ensure that the operating room is adequately staffed and appropriately equipped for all procedures. Develop and implement quality assurance programs and patient safety initiatives. Develop, coordinate, and implement staff education and training programs related to the operating room. Monitor supply levels, order supplies as needed, and maintain accurate records of all supplies used in the operating room. Monitor costs associated with the operating room and develop budget proposals to ensure cost-effectiveness. Participate in meetings with other healthcare professionals to discuss patient care, operating room policies, and other related issues. Stay informed of new developments in operating room technology and medicine. Provide guidance and assistance to staff members in the operating room when needed.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES: Thorough knowledge of OR regulations, safety policies, and standards of care. Ability to effectively delegate tasks and responsibilities to OR staff. Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to develop and implement strategies for improving quality and reducing costs. Ability to assess patient needs and prioritize tasks. Ability to maintain accurate records and develop reports. Ability to manage resources effectively (staff, supplies, equipment). Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, sterilization techniques, and operating room protocols. Ability to maintain a collaborative working relationship with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience
Graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently registered nurse licensure in the state of employment. Bachelor's degree in nursing or three years of Surgical experience.
Successful completion of an approved Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) and current certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) by the AORN and current certification or active participation in the certification process to be achieved within nine months of eligibility,
Mandatory Basic and Advanced Life Support Training.
CPSI, (POC, Enterprise Wide Scheduling), Microsoft Office applications.
