New Canaan High School is seeking a Music Technology, AP Music Theory and Music Theory Teacher to join our school community beginning in the 2023-24 school year. All candidates must hold appropriate CT certification. Qualifications:
CT State Certification: Music PreK-12 teacher (#049) required.
Proficient in all aspects of music production such as recording, mixing and mastering.
Strong skills in teaching music composition, orchestration and audio engineering.
Strong pedagogical understanding of fundamental and advanced music theory and notation, score analysis and aural skills.
Proficient piano skills.
Working knowledge and the ability to use the latest industry standard synthesizers, digital audio workstations and software programs such as Logic Pro X or ProTools is required.
Demonstrates knowledge, understanding, and application of music instruction and ability to write Understanding by Design Units of study.
Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with district colleagues and administration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Creates and administers school music curriculum aligned with school district goals and objectives.
Creates lessons aligned with National Core Arts Standards and district curriculum.
Creates ongoing assessments to monitor student learning, differentiating process and product for all students.
Collaborates with the Visual and Performing Arts Director and other K-12 music department educators.
Maintains instrumental equipment, inventory, and ensures equipment is kept in good condition.
