    About the Role

    Position Summary:

    As a Product and Applications Development Technologist on the Beverages team, you will lead a diverse array of projects, both internal and external. You will develop great tasting beverage prototypes which showcase Symrise technologies and ultimately translate into project wins. Through collaboration with our team of Technologists, Flavorists, Sensory, Sales and Marketing, you will support projects (of varying complexity) in a fast paced, and growing Symrise business unit. Strong communication skills and attention to detail will enable you to effectively interact and build relationships with our customers. Your technical curiosity and passion for Beverages will motivate you to keep abreast of new technologies, industry trends, and new product launches.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Deliver against customer projects efficiently and in a timely manner in accordance with project parameters (Cost, restrictions, timing, processing, etc.). Participate in internal brainstorming sessions, and customer co-creation sessions as needed. Take on special tasks and projects to meet BU objectives.
    2. Develop and prepare innovative beverage prototypes (e.g., Water, Coffee, Tea, Dairy, Carbonated, Juice, Alcoholic, Functional, etc.) to demonstrate Symrise's technical capabilities to customers in accordance w/BU objectives. Leverage existing technical foundation to create new beverage formulas as needed to showcase our technologies and highlight industry trends for proactive presentations. Continue to build technical knowledge and skills through assignments on projects across a wide range of beverage products.
    3. Develop rapport and foster open communication with customers on projects when appropriate. Provide technical support to customers for beverage formula development and commercialization.
    4. Travel to customers for product presentations and meetings.
    5. Expand technical skills thru internal and external training opportunities.

    About You

    Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in food science or related discipline is required.
    • Must have 3 years of experience in beverage applications and/or beverage product development.
    • Must have ingredient functionality and formulating knowledge.
    • Trained in flavor applications and beverage product development with solid experience in at least 1-2 beverage areas (i.e. dairy, coffee, tea, etc.).
    • Broad knowledge of ingredients and various processing technologies.
    • Knowledgeable of HACCP / Food Safety practices.
    • Knowledge of beverage processing according to industry standard food safety practices.
    • Experience working through the entire product development & commercialization cycle is highly desired and will be prioritized.
    • Experience working for a CPG company is a plus.
    • Experience with Alcohol beverages desired.

    Skills & Abilities:

    • Must have the ability to modify/create a variety of beverage bases as needed.
    • Proven ability to interpret and translate Customer & Marketing direction into winning Beverage concepts.
    • Able to create beverage prototypes that match customer's processing & shelf-life requirements.
    • Ability/willingness to learn and operate the beverage lab's processing equipment.
    • Understanding of market trends and customer portfolios and ability to translate into winning beverage prototypes.
    • Positive attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, able to work independently and as part of a diverse team. Adaptability and flexible mindset to navigate fast moving projects, and changing priorities.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required for working closely with technologists in satellite locations, flavor developers, sales, marketing, and customers. Able to communicate thoughts and ideas effectively.
    • Strong project management, attention to detail, organizational and documentation skills.
    • Self-motivated to pursue continuous learning and development.
    • The ability and interest to interact directly with customers &/or travel with Account Managers
    • Occupational Qualifier - Must be willing and able to taste and smell all types of beverages.
